No Genuine Heart

Earlier today I was left a comment on my YouTube Channel regarding my performance with the daily vlogs that I produce. I was surprised because the usual messages that I receive are generally hate messages telling me to quit or that I’m going to be hunted down and killed. This message, however, was a lot more constructive and I’d like to share with you the message and my reply.

BeyonceSlays says:

Dude, your videos aren’t funny any more, it seems as if you’re forced to put up a video everyday and there’s no genuine heart put into them

Here is my reply:

Thank you for your comment on the channel, I do appreciate your feedback and unlike most people, you were constructively critical and for that I am grateful.

I do however, feel that I should explain myself a little because you were kind enough to leave me a decent, critical message that didn’t involve telling me to “get the fuck off youtube” and the like.

I gather you know I’m doing a 365 Day vlog challenge which really doesn’t need much description. I’m going to be honest, it’s very tough. There are a number of other daily vloggers out there like Charles Trippy and Shay Carl and their projects have both gone past the two year mark. Both inspiring, funny and wonderful people.

The difference between them and myself is that when they started their daily vlog projects, they had a massive fan-base as well as a sustainable income from YouTube that they can use as a livelihood. Their fanbsases have, of course, increased, with this outlet. Myself on the other hand, started from zero and over the course of this year, have built a small subscriber count and following which I am truly grateful for.

They also have their families and friends as a part of their production process which brings them the support that they need to get these videos out. Unfortunately for me, I’m a one man show and I don’t have that level of support in the real world.

The process of making a daily vlog is extremely hard and tiring, it’s about life and living and transcending that to a digital platform. Some days are very hard, some days are fun and interesting and that is life, essentially.

Recently, my daily videos have lost some of the humour and interest that they originally did. My only reason is that I work a number of jobs, suffer from extreme depression and come across obstacles that exhaust me to the extent where sometimes I wish I could just sleep forever.

The good thing about the vlogs is that it’s a way for me to focus myself and drive me to make sure that I am always productive, always working regardless of exhaustion, mood or time. It’s a personal quest.

Sometimes, I do wish I could stop, or even better, have every day as a fun, interesting day which can bring laughter and joy to the few people watching them. I’d like to think I try to do my best, but sadly, that’s not true.

I do hope you can forgive my lack of effort and heart in the recent videos and I will do the best I can to make the rest of my days on the project as entertaining as possible.

Again, thank you for your constructive criticism and thank you for your viewership.

Regards,
-S :)

I don’t know what he/shes going on about but I really like your vlog, everybody has good and bad days, it’s unrealistic to be happy all the time, all year round and I like that you share that with us, you make vlogs according to the way you feel, it makes it easier to relate to, stay true to yourself.
